Football Expert Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Murs in Top Flight Forecasts
The Gunners' 10-game winning streak came to an end by the Black Cats prior to the international hiatus, but can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still manage to win."
The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, against artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of guests.
For week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.
Football and Family Experiences
Murs is a talented footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of multiple charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a footballer.
"{I actually played in a charity match the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "My team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!
"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."
The singer and his wife his partner have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.
"I won't push football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be managing their weekend soccer team," he added.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a while too.
"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our team for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Top Division Forecasts
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea might have to be patient for their star's comeback from injury but their attack is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this fixture will be fairly close, though. Burnley are well organised and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.
It suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
The singer's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
In contrast, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.
The Hammers' sole on the road win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was previously Forest manager.
Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - will it be West Ham continuing their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?
I will choose the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Villa was a anomaly.
Sutton's forecast: 2-0
Olly's prediction: The home team are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the season began, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.
A family member advised me to select Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
The forward will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.
The Bees have not had great fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are consistently decent at home. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a danger.
The analyst's prediction: 2-1
The singer's prediction: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually proves to be rather tight. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.
Fulham have have plenty of talent in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.
As for the Black Cats, well they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.
The away side's performance in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We have not witnessed any other team rough up the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The logical choice would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the close of October.
But I am not do that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive results because they evidently love to defy my predictions.
Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the only team they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
The guest's choice: I know Sunderland are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a bad run... but they have still been decent at home this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard one to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but could they be one of the sides who profit from the {international break|
