The tally of fatalities due to the freight aircraft that burst into flames and plummeted has climbed to 13, per latest reports.

Investigation Details

Federal officials announced that the jet’s wing ignited and an power plant detached just after takeoff from the Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport, resulting in the aircraft to plummet and burst into a blaze.

The NTSB has said it is probing the plane’s service record, that was in the state for repairs several weeks ahead of the crash.

Aircraft data indicated the jet was on the ground in the Texas city from the start of last month to 18 October.

“We are knowledgeable that this plane was present in that city,” remarked an official on the following day, without a exact date range. “We will examine all elements of maintenance that was performed, including the Texas period, all the way to the day of the trip.”

Recovery of Critical Components

The cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder were retrieved, and the power plant was found on the runway.

The recorders – referred to as data containers – were built to withstand collision damage and severe heat from blazes, and they appeared to be undamaged when located amid the remains. Authorities plan on analyzing data from the recorders.

Jet’s final data recordings indicated an elevation of 475 feet and a speed of 210 miles per hour before the impact.

A gathering was held on the late afternoon of recently by the area worker’s group, which supports staff at the aviation hub, the firm’s biggest air cargo hub.
