President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Devastating Incident

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on last Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief explained he’s talked about a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president told journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Public Reaction

Mourners came together over the weekend at the high school in the state to remember Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support law enforcement in Washington DC.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the individual that teachers desired. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the head of her previous school, stated to the press. “She was kind, caring and always willing to help others.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Judicial Steps and Government Changes

Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The event led the administration to suspend refugee claims and cease providing entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey said on a news program.

Attorney general Pam Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit his relatives.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with honor, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey addressed the audience at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
